6th Grade Academy

One of LCA’s biggest initiatives—the 6th Grade Academy—was launched during the 2018-2019 school year. We recognized that the 6th grade is a pivotal year in the educational journey of our students. Students have outgrown the elementary campus but are not quite ready for junior high. For that reason, we developed a self-contained learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually in preparation for junior high and high school.

The 6th Grade Academy is uniquely designed to engage students in the learning process. Students are empowered by teachers to grow and develop important 21st century skills like critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity that prepares them for an ever-changing, highly adaptive world.

The 6th grade curriculum reinforces the basics of the elementary program and prepares students for the rigors of junior high and high school. Its curriculum includes Bible, English, history, math, PE, science plus an “elective wheel” where students get to take a different elective course every six weeks.

Your sixth grade student will:

Be known and cared for by our teachers and staff

Cultivate key skills such as creativity, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration

Explore science and technology with hands-on projects

Use dynamic resources like Makerspace and STEM labs to engage imaginations

Participate in a 1-to-1 iPad program

Enjoy enrichment opportunities such as field trips, book fair, academic team, robotics teams, sports programs, fine arts programs, and so much more....

We are convinced that above all else children should know and understand God’s love. We teach students to delight in God’s Word and his Truth. The students will pray daily and will also attend a weekly chapel that is especially geared for 6th grade students.
